Carra Sutherland: Redefining luxury through vitality and conscious longevity

Sogevity had the pleasure of speaking with Carra Sutherland, founder of Happy Sport et Detox. A luxury public relations expert turned wellness consultant, Carra has created a unique ecosystem where high-end rigor meets the science of well-being. Through her premium retreats, strategic advice for prestigious establishments, and her “pleasure movement” philosophy, she offers a global method to optimize health capital. Meeting with a woman for whom longevity is the new field of excellence.

A journey between high standards and well-being

Carra’s background is a rare synthesis of two worlds. On one side, twenty years in the most demanding spheres of Parisian fashion and luxury; on the other, an Irish upbringing where sport and natural remedies were second nature. This dual expertise allows her today to propose an approach to well-being without compromise on quality or the human aspect.

Sogevity: Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your background?

Carra Sutherland: I am Irish and I have lived in France for nearly 27 years. I initially came for my studies in Paris, and France then became my adopted country! On the other hand, I always keep this quite Anglo-Saxon approach, very direct, pragmatic, and results-oriented!

I started my career as a model, before moving towards the luxury and fashion sector, where I worked for nearly twenty years, notably at Louis Vuitton with Marc Jacobs, then with the wonderful couturier Emanuel Ungaro, as well as for different brands in the worlds of fashion and beauty. I developed expertise in press relations, communication, and brand strategy there, in very demanding and corporate environments, which still serves me a lot today in everything I do.

Having evolved for so long in luxury, I have a very strong sense of detail – for me, everything is in the detail! This requirement is found today in everything I offer.

In parallel, sport and well-being have always been deeply anchored in me. I come from a very sporty family, where physical activity was part of daily life. Sport was almost a remedy for everything. I remember that when I was a child, if I was a little sick, my parents told me to go for a run, then to alternate sauna and cold bath!!

These simple “lifestyle hacks” around movement, heat, and cold, have remained and are still part of my approach today. I started riding horses at the age of three, then I participated in many competitions. I also practiced competitive swimming very young. I have always been demanding and disciplined, with a taste for effort and surpassing oneself.

With time, this requirement has transformed into a more global, more intelligent, and more sustainable approach to well-being. Happy Sport & Detox was born from this double culture: the requirement of luxury and a simple, effective, and deeply human approach to health.

The redefinition of luxury: from appearance to energy

For many, luxury stops at objects. For Carra, luxury has become organic. She explains to us how she made this transition to make health the most precious resource for her clients.

Sogevity: You left a career in luxury to create Happy Sport & Detox: what triggered this turning point?

Carra: I did not leave luxury, I redefined it! Today, for me, true luxury is energy, health, mental clarity, and the joy of living. At a certain point, I felt the need to return to something more essential and more aligned with my values. This project was born from my own journey, but also from a desire to propose an approach to well-being that is at the same time demanding, effective, but also deeply human and joyful.

The longevity triptych: sport, food, and attitude

At Sogevity, we know that longevity factors are interconnected. Carra Sutherland has structured her method around three pillars, refusing any dogmatism in favor of efficiency and pleasure.

Sogevity: Your approach associates sport, nutrition, and positive attitude: why are the three inseparable for aging well?

Carra: Because everything is linked – sport, food, attitude – for a life in full health ! Sport activates the body, nutrition nourishes it, and a positive attitude allows one to last over time. But I always add an essential dimension: pleasure.

We cannot join a sustainable approach if it is only based on constraint. In a world where we are often drowned in stress, it is fundamental to find lightness and joy in what we do. That is why, for my retreats, I offer a variety of activities, so that everyone can find what corresponds to them and reconnect to their body with pleasure. I am not in a dogmatic or “guru” approach. On the contrary, I am very pragmatic and I go straight to the point: proposing simple and effective levers to improve health, from the inside as from the outside.

Intermittent fasting: the vitality asset without frustration

One of the flagship levers of Happy Sport & Detox retreats is 16/8 intermittent fasting. Carra details for us the physiological benefits, notably autophagy, while insisting on an alkaline and generous gastronomy.

Sogevity: Intermittent fasting is at the heart of your retreats: what impact have you observed on the vitality and longevity of your participants?

Carra: The intermittent fasting that I propose is very supervised, accessible, and above all without frustration. We are on a 16/8 format, with two meals a day – lunch and dinner – but there is no caloric restriction. The meals are hearty, very nutritious, and above all gourmet. I am very gourmet myself, so it is essential for me that pleasure remains at the heart of the experience. No one is hungry.

The fact of skipping breakfast allows the body a real digestive rest time, which favors natural mechanisms like autophagy, a cellular cleaning process associated with longevity. Associated with an alkaline diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, fibers, and essential nutrients, this allows the body to rebalance gently, to support digestion, to reduce inflammation, and to improve global energy.

The effects are often fast: feeling of lightness, natural weight loss, better mental clarity, and regain of energy. The idea is never to be in restriction, but in an intelligent, sustainable, and deeply pleasant approach to nutrition and well-being.

The forgotten key: pleasure as a motor of sustainability

We often oppose discipline and pleasure. For Carra, this duality is a fundamental error. The science of aging well must integrate the notion of joy to be part of time.

Sogevity: What is, according to you, the often-forgotten key to aging well?

Carra: Pleasure without hesitation! We talk a lot about discipline and performance, but if we do not take pleasure, we do not last over time. The true challenge is to find a balance between rigor and lightness. It is often this dimension of joy of living that is forgotten, while it is essential. It is primordial to have fun!!

A tailor-made and human experience

Entrepreneurs, doctors, athletes, or novices… the retreats of Happy Sport & Detox attract a diverse community. Carra explains to us how her past in luxury influences the ultra-personalized accompaniment of each participant.

Sogevity: To whom are your retreats addressed, and what concrete impact do they have on the people who participate in them?

Carra: My retreats are addressed to people who wish to get back in shape, find energy, shed superfluous pounds, or simply take a break to recenter themselves. The profiles are varied: I welcome many entrepreneurs, but also doctors, which shows how much the approach is at the same time accessible and credible.

The leitmotif of these retreats is simple: propose programs accessible to all, to do oneself good while having pleasure, find lightness, get rid of extra pounds, and above all find the joy of living and have fun in a benevolent framework.

I also grant a great importance to the global experience. Having spent nearly twenty years in luxury, I have a very pushed concern for detail. Nothing is left to chance. I propose very personalized experiences, adapted to each person in their individuality. I take the time with each participant and I involve myself 100%.

Projects: “Drain and glow” and strategic consulting

Happy Sport & Detox is not limited to retreats. Carra Sutherland is now deploying her expertise with institutional actors to transform well-being into a growth lever.

Sogevity: What are your upcoming projects?

Carra: I wish to continue to develop Happy Sport et Detox through retreats that are always more targeted and qualitative. The next retreat, titled “Drain & Glow”, will be held from June 14 to 17, 2026, in Brittany, at Château Les Garennes, in collaboration with the brand Elastique Athletics and another retreat will be in October, from October 11th to 14th at the Relais Thalasso on the Île de Ré.

In parallel, I wish to develop the consulting dimension of my activity further. I accompany hotels, spas, clinics, and brands in the sectors of well-being and luxury for the creation of differentiating wellness concepts. My objective is to help these establishments transform well-being into a true lever of differentiation and growth.

The word of the end: movement as a foundation

To conclude, Carra returns to the essential: the physical impulse as a trigger of life.

Sogevity: If you had to give only one piece of advice to improve one’s longevity, which would it be?

Carra: Get back into movement. Movement is the base of everything, but it must always be associated with pleasure. It is not about performance at all costs, but about finding a dynamic, an energy, and a desire.

Making one’s health the most beautiful of luxuries

Through Happy Sport et Detox, Carra Sutherland reminds us that longevity is not a distant destination, but a daily practice irrigated by joy and movement. By marrying the standards of excellence of her career in luxury to a deep understanding of physiological mechanisms like autophagy and alkaline balance, she offers much more than a simple parenthesis of well-being.

She proposes a true re-education to vitality, where discipline is no longer lived as a constraint, but as the ultimate tool to preserve one’s freedom and mental clarity.
