Precision hydration: An interview with Victor Ollivier on water as a pillar of longevity

Within the Sogevity ecosystem, we explore the pillars that enable us not only to live longer, but above all to live better. While nutrition and movement are often highlighted, water; a major component of our cells; remains an optimization lever that is sometimes underestimated.
To understand how the science of water can transform our vitality, we spoke with Victor Ollivier, co-founder of Sküma. At the intersection of extreme purification and personalized remineralization, he shares his vision of functional and conscious hydration.

Hydration and longevity: Beyond quantity

To begin this reflection on longevity, it is crucial to redefine our relationship with water. It is no longer just about “drinking enough,” but about understanding how the mineral structure of water interacts with our cellular metabolism.

How do the quality and composition of the water we consume influence our vitality, our daily energy, and more broadly, longevity?

Victor Ollivier: The quality of the water we consume plays a much more important role than we imagine in our daily vitality and, in the long term, in our overall health. We often talk about the quantity of water, but much less about its composition.
Yet, water that is balanced in essential minerals and free from contaminants is better absorbed by the body. It enables truly effective hydration at the cellular level, which directly impacts energy, concentration, recovery, and even certain key metabolic functions.
In the long term, optimized hydration helps limit oxidative stress, supports cognitive functions, and maintains tissue integrity. In this sense, water should no longer be seen merely as a basic need, but as a true lever for health and longevity.

Can personalized hydration be considered a concrete lever to support long-term health and performance?

V.O.: It is within this logic that personalized hydration makes perfect sense. Each individual has different needs depending on their lifestyle, level of activity, diet, and even age. Adapting the composition of water, particularly by adjusting mineral intake such as magnesium, sodium, or potassium, helps optimize hydration and amplify its benefits.
We thus move from passive hydration to a functional approach, much more aligned with today’s health and performance challenges.

Technology and science: purity serving function

The shift from imposed water to chosen water requires a foundation of absolute purity. Victor explains here the technological process behind Sküma, which neutralizes environmental threats before rebuilding “health-focused” water.

Your system is based on reverse osmosis and personalized remineralization. Can you explain how these technologies ensure safe and functional water?

V.O.: Our approach is based on a combination of two complementary principles: water purification at the highest level and personalized remineralization. Our Super-Filter is a triple filtration system including a sediment filter, then high-quality activated carbon, followed by a reverse osmosis membrane, eliminating 99.9% of contaminants: PFAS, heavy metals, pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, and pesticides.

We thus obtain extremely pure water. From this neutral base, we can then reintroduce essential minerals in a precise and controlled way. This remineralization step allows us to adapt the water to different uses or specific needs, whether for daily hydration, effort support, or recovery phases.

Unlike traditional water, whose composition is fixed, this approach enables true personalization. From a scientific standpoint, reverse osmosis is a proven technology, used for decades in demanding environments, including the medical field or desalination. Moreover, the role of electrolytes in hydration is well documented. Remineralization is essential.

What scientific validations or certifications support the effectiveness of your purification and remineralization solutions?

V.O.: The performance of our filtration has been validated through tests conducted by an independent French laboratory accredited by COFRAC. We established an exhaustive list of 230 molecules found in tap water, based in particular on reports from various Regional Health Agencies and NSF certification recommendations.

We then spiked tap water with different pollutants before filtration to determine removal rates after filtration with the Sküma Super-Filter. Reaching, in the vast majority of cases, the quantifiable limit of contaminants after filtration, Sküma is the only solution eliminating 99.99% of water contaminants, including 165 pesticides and their metabolites, 20 different PFAS, 14 heavy metals, pharmaceutical residues, VOCs, CMVs, perchlorate… and 98% of microplastics.

Remineralization is carried out using 3 mineral bases of your choice, more or less remineralized, even allowing for alkaline water; rare in nature; by increasing the pH of the water by one point. With the help of nutritionists, healthcare practitioners, and our partner the Robertet group, we have understood this fundamental truth: hydration is not just about quenching thirst, but about controlling the foundations of everything you do.

Personalization and conscious well-being

Awareness, a central pillar of Sogevity, applies here to the act of drinking. By transforming an automatic reflex into an intentional action, the user regains control over their physiological balance.

Sküma offers different mineralization formulas. How does this approach help optimize health consciously?

V.O.: The approach we are developing is based on a simple idea: not all water is equal, and above all, not all needs are identical. Offering different mineralization formulas makes it possible to adapt hydration to specific goals. Each formula acts as a functional lever. A lighter, balanced water is suitable for daily hydration, fluid and accessible to all.

Conversely, a higher mineral concentration helps support increased needs, particularly during periods of fatigue, stress, or physical activity. We are not just changing the quantity of water consumed, but its function in the body. This approach makes hydration much more conscious. Users no longer drink “out of reflex,” but with intention: to recover better, perform better, or simply balance their daily life. This creates a form of education around water, which becomes an active tool in a well-being approach.

How can this personalization support prevention or performance routines recommended by Sogevity?

V.O.: This personalization integrates very naturally into prevention or performance routines. Hydration is a transversal pillar, often underestimated, that conditions many other parameters: energy, mental clarity, recovery, digestion.
Being able to finely adjust its composition helps reinforce the effectiveness of other levers already in place, whether nutritional, physical, or lifestyle-related. In practice, this makes it possible to support different moments of the day or different uses: more neutral hydration daily, enriched water around effort or during demanding periods, or specific water to support certain physiological balances.

Performance and sustainability: A commitment for the future

Living longer also means preserving our environment. Victor explains how Sküma reconciles high-level performance demands with responsible consumption ethics.

How does Sküma Water help active individuals maintain their physiological balance?

V.O.: Athletes and active individuals have specific hydration needs. The challenge is twofold: maintaining proper physiological balance during effort and optimizing recovery afterward.
By combining purified water, adapted remineralization, and targeted electrolyte intake, we enable more effective hydration at the cellular level. This translates into better energy, reduced fatigue, and faster recovery. We have also developed our first hydration booster, in collaboration with Robertet. This booster notably includes lemon balm, known for its antioxidant properties, to support the body’s ability to cope with oxidative stress related to effort and intense lifestyles.

What is Sküma’s philosophy regarding sustainable and responsible hydration?

V.O.: Our philosophy is based on a sustainable vision. Today, a large part of water consumption still relies on unsustainable models, particularly single-use plastic bottles.
We believe it is possible to reconcile health and environmental impact by relocalizing water production directly at the point of consumption. This approach is part of a broader vision of health and longevity. The idea is to transform an everyday gesture, often trivial, into a ritual that is smarter, more efficient, and more respectful.

Towards intentional hydration: Feedback and advice

The impact of this technology is measured daily through tangible changes experienced by users. Victor concludes on the importance of integrating water as a structural pillar of our habits.

What feedback do you observe from users after a few weeks of use?

V.O.: The first change is often quantitative: users report drinking more. In our surveys, this represents on average nearly one additional liter of water per day. But beyond this increase, the perceived benefits are qualitative: better daily energy, reduced fatigue. Users understand that not all water is equal.

In this context, drinking purified and remineralized water at the point of use becomes a form of modern precaution and a preventive reflex. More and more health professionals; nutritionists, naturopaths, doctors; are using this type of solution and recommending it. This reinforces the idea that personalized hydration is not a trend, but a natural evolution in the way we approach prevention.

What advice would you give to integrate personalized hydration into a longevity approach?

V.O.: The advice we would give is simple: integrate hydration as a structuring pillar of your daily routine. Not by adding complexity, but by improving the quality of what you already do.
Today, the tools exist to transform a basic gesture into a concrete lever for health, energy, and performance. The challenge is no longer whether it works, but choosing to use it.

Redefining our fundamentals for sustainable vitality

The interview with Victor Ollivier reminds us of a fundamental truth of conscious longevity: optimizing our health does not always require complex interventions, but often lies in mastering our most basic fundamentals.

By reconsidering water not as a simple commodity, but as a true precision tool, Sküma offers a new way to approach hydration: more conscious, more functional, and aligned with modern health and performance challenges.

Thanks to a three-step approach—purify, remineralize, and optimize;everyday water becomes a concrete lever to support energy, recovery, and physiological balance. In this perspective, hydration is no longer just a reflex, but fully part of a global longevity approach. Because beyond complex innovations, it is often our fundamentals—such as the quality of the water we consume every day;that sustainably shape our vitality.
